Desy Gitary

Desy Gitary has a Bachelor of Communications degree from the Universitas Prof Dr.Moestopo (B), Jakarta. Initially working as a journalist, news anchor, script writer. Desy is now a self taught artist who lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Most of her work is about the human figure exploring the unpredictable nature of life. As such, she enjoys the unpredictable journey she takes with her materials - charcoal, pastel, acrylic, oil and oil bar. For Desy, complexity of character, memory, and hope are important concept in her work, which are represented as layers of mixed materials and short lines - imaginary lines - that make the objects blur. More recently, Desy has begun to work with the medium of video. Since 2016 Desy has had two solo exhibition, 07:00 at RuangDalam Art House, Yogjakarta, 2016, and Beyond, at Syang Art space, Magelang, 2018.

For Twisted Myth, Desy will use Karma as a "trigger" further explorations into her work on character, memory, hope, and regret.
